Graduating from Arizona State University is a milestone worth celebrating—and there’s no better place to capture it than on the iconic ASU Tempe Campus. From historic architecture to palm-lined pathways, the campus offers a mix of timeless backdrops and unmistakable Sun Devil spirit that make every photo feel meaningful.
While Old Main is the go-to spot for ASU grad photos, there are so many spots that not only look beautiful but also reflect your journey as a Sun Devil. Whether you want something iconic, scenic, or uniquely you, these locations will help you create graduation photos that feel both personal and unforgettable
Old Main
Old Main isn’t just another campus building—it’s the oldest standing structure at ASU and a symbol of the university’s history and legacy. Its classic architecture, red brick exterior, and palm-lined entrance instantly give your graduation photos a timeless, collegiate feel. This iconic location is the most popular location on campus for ASU grad photos, and it is easy to see why but planning is important. Old Main gets BUSY during grad season so scheduling your photo session early in the season is smart and a little patience is a must.
University Club
Next to Old Main is the University Club, a spot that I often use for ASU grad photos when my clients choose Old Main. The University Club is the second oldest building on campus and sits in the historic portion of campus. Its red brick exterior coordinates well with Old Main and provides a less hectic but still iconic backdrop for grad photos.
Palm Walk
Just steps away from Old Main, is Palm Walk. Palm Walk is a popular campus walkway, extending from the University Bridge to the Sun Devil Fitness Complex. If you studied on the ASU Tempe campus, you probably walked between these palms to or from class. There are many spots along Palm Walk that provide those classic leading lines that add depth to your ASU grad photos.
College of Study
If you are graduating from ASU, then you have probably spent a significant amount of time on select areas of campus. Whether you took classes in the W.P. Carey business buildings, spent time in the labs in the Life Sciences buildings or studied for Human Event at Barrett, the Honors College – those spots on campus are a part of your Sun Devil journey. Why not capture your ASU grad photos at the locations that became such an integral piece of your story.
University Bridge
You can’t drive down University Avenue without spotting the pedestrian overpass that connects the residence halls, athletic facilities and parking lots on the north side of campus to the main areas of campus on the south side of University Drive. And if you have walked the bridge a time or two, you’ve contemplated whether those weird short steps really make sense. The bridge is a perfect spot to capture sunset or silhouette images in your cap and gown.
ASU Libraries
One of my favorite spots for grad photos is inside the many libraries on the ASU Tempe campus. The rows of books and soft lighting are a perfect backdrop for photos that celebrate all that you have learned in pursuit of your degree. It’s an especially great option for grads who spent countless hours studying there—making your photos not just beautiful, but deeply personal and reflective of your academic journey. If you are interested in library images, make sure to bring your ASU ID with you so that we can access the library of your choice.
Hayden Lawn
Just outside Hayden Library is sprawling Hayden Lawn. The lawn sits above the lower levels of the library and is a focal point on campus. On the opposite side of the library sits West Hall, a classic building built in 193. Photos here have a more open, relaxed vibe. The wide green space, open walkways, and views of the surrounding campus create a lighter, more candid feel. The lighting also tends to be softer and more even, especially around sunset, which is perfect for natural, glowing portraits.
Secret Garden
Do you know about the secret garden at ASU? The garden is a quiet little hidden gem of shade and greenery hiding in the midst of this bustling, busy campus. With white brick walls, an outdoor fireplace and green lawn, the secret garden makes a great spot to create some unique ASU grad images. This location can be incorporated into your grad session with a little planning as we will need to “find” the garden.
Greek Life Village
Tucked on the east side of the ASU Tempe campus is a hidden gem worth considering — the Greek Leadership Village. If Greek life was part of your Sun Devil journey, this vibrant community space offers unique visual opportunities to elevate your grad photos. Photos at the Greek Life Village can add personality to your ASU grad photos. When choosing this location, make sure that you bring your student ID to obtain access to the village.

The ASU Tempe campus is diverse and there are so many hidden spots and great locations for ASU grad photos. Do you have a spot in mind that is meaningful to you? We can work together to create some great images in locations on campus that will give your ASU grad photos meaning and personality.
